It does not get better, right? It could. Take it a step further and make your homemade soup with fresh, crispy homemade soup crackers. This recipe is simple and so basic that you can punch it up with your favorite herbs and spices.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter two cookie sheet and set aside. Sift 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 teaspoon. ranch seasoning, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. baking soda in a large soup and cracker bowl. Add 1/4 cup of softened butter and 1/2 cup whole milk (1/4 cup set aside). Stir well. Mix the dough with your hands until it is damp and stiff. If the dough is too dry, add remaining 1/4 cup whole milk, a little at a time, until the dough reaches a damp, hard texture.
Dust the work surface with flour. Place cracker dough on your work surface and knead for about five minutes. Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thick with a rolling pin. Cut rolled cracker dough into 1-inch squares. Place the squares, evenly spaced, on your buttered cookie sheet. Place the biscuits in your preheated oven. Bake for eight to 10 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown. Cool completely and store in an airtight container of soup and cracker bowl.
